Not a session goes by that I’m not anxiously excited to get to the meeting location, this could be for a couples session, elopement, or even portrait session. My goal is to arrive at least one hour before the clients arrives, for my own piece of mind but also to explore! While I was making my way down 81 on March 9th, the weather was looking questionable to say the least. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t checking the forecast, what felt like every single hour. Hoping for a small window where we might have a break from the rain. You guys, that was not the case AT ALL! Honestly it might of been the best thing in the entire world! I mean just look at the stunning photo of the low hanging fog of Matt and Emily nestled up together.
As you take a moment to scroll through these photos you can feel and see the connection between Matt and Emily. These two were so stunning to photograph and they were down for everything. They were champs because the weather was not ideal and it was cold, but these guys looked past it all and had a wonderful time during their couples session. The moodiness of the rain added to their photoshoot, as much as we all wanted the amazing views that Max Patch has to offer, I truly believe the rain was meant to be!
A little about Max Patch
Max patch is one of the most visited hikes along the Appalachian Trail Trail in North Carolina. It holds some of the most stunning 360 degree views of the mountains in both North Carolina AND Tennessee. Hands down one of the best bald summits along the AT, besides my personal favorite Cole Mountain.
As badly as I wanted to capture these two with the stunning views of the mountains sweeping behind E + M, things happen for a reason and I really think their story was meant to be photographed in the rain. Who doesn’t dream of dancing in the rain with the person who makes them feel weak in their knees, I know I SURE DO!
Now I will say, I could of spent endless hours on this bald, yes even in the rain BUT we got to a point where it was starting to rain very hard. Again, I’m all for embracing the elements but I read my couples and my equipment and if the rain picks up too much it’s time for a different location. In this case, it was time to take cover! Meaning, that we needed to head for a little tree cover and then for a little picnic in the car.
I can’t wait to get back up to Max Patch for a elopement, couples session or portraits. Next time hoping for some incredible views but I’d be okay with rain again. Truth be told, I thought it was pretty magical! Reach me here for your next adventure on Max Patch! Can’t wait to tell your story!
These are so gorgeous! I’m obsessed with the cows and all the creative shots!!
