When I tell you the sunset during this engagement session was the cherry on top of a beautiful evening, I’M NOT KIDDING! I mean just LOOK! The sky completely lit up. Completely took my breath away! It was hands down one of the best sunsets I have seen this year, thus far! When S+A reached out to me about photographing their engagement session I was over the moon. Especially when they told me they wanted to be photographed in Shenandoah National Park. My response was..say less. I’m already so in!
Anthony and Shannon weren’t looking to climb a mountain in Shenandoah. They had their hopes set on beautiful views of the Blue ridge Mountains at overlooks throughout the national park! First things first we decided to meet at Hazel Mountain Overlook as our starting point. Hazel Mountain is a very well known overlook within Shenandoah and I will admit I was a tad worried about crowds because I heard that it can get pretty flooded around golden hour. Can’t blame them, it’s really pretty and shows off beautiful layers of the Blue ridge Mountains. I mean what more could you want from a overlook?!
Next, it was off to a pretty iconic landmark within Shenandoah National Park boundaries, a little spot known as Mary’s Rock Tunnel. There is truly nothing crazy spectacular about this tunnel I’m just in love with the rocks around the tunnel. This was tricky because drivers fly through this tunnel and some won’t turn their headlights on, so I would proceed with caution!
Jewel Hollow overlook was were we decided to end the evening. We walked along the trail, played in the road and enjoyed the stunning sunset before the day came to a close. I can’t say enough about the opportunity to tell Anthony and Shannons love story.
I would happy dance my day away if you allowed me to photograph you and your best friend in Shenandoah National Park! I’d love to hear about your love story!
