Alarm went off at 2:30am & to say I jumped out of bed was a complete understatement of the year. You see, I had been waiting weeks for the opportunity to photographer Julia and Chris’ engagement session!
This is my second time having the absolute pleasure of working with C+J and capturing their love story. Chris reached out to me months ago to photograph his proposal to Julia. If you’d like to hear more feel free to check out a recent blog post here; Surprise Proposal in Shenandoah. Hands down so freaking sweet!
Anyways back to their engagement..
When Julia reached out about doing engagement photos I jumped with joy. The idea of working with them again was a HELL yes in my book! Let us not forget their proposal was moody and came with a TON of fog. So Julia had high hopes for an engagement session. The first thought was to head back into Shenandoah to the same trail where Chris got down on one knee. Or perhaps mix it up. Julia and I went back in forth about the idea of a different hike with a stunning view at sunrise. She was more than pumped!
This time around we headed to a pretty well known section of the Appalachian Trail in George Washington Forest. I picked C+J up around 4:30am and we all rode to the trailhead together. The rode going up is questionable to say the least and I was the only one with four-wheel drive. We get to trailhead about 30 minutes before the sunrise. As we’re walking you could barely see in front of you even with a headlamp. The hopes a sunrise were slipping away. We we reached the first vista, we all choose to give it 20 minutes or so to see if anything would open up. That was not the case but when I tell you that did not crush Julia and Chris energy, im not joking. These two had the best time and were completely immersed in one another.
Just like last time it was amazing to photography there beautiful little story.
