Almost a month ago I had one of my biggest dreams come true. I have to thank the wonderful Hannah of Wild Faith Photo for making a little girls dream of shooting at Cannon Beach come to light! Hannah set up this Cannon Beach elopement for our Storytelling retreat and not only was the backdrop one of the coolest beaches on the Oregon Coast BUT held Oregons most famous “sea stack” as one of the main highlights as well. It was 1000% everything I envisioned in my head and then so much more.
The elopement was planned for golden hour but due to some timing difficulties we arrived right at the very end, in the first few moments, I was disappointed..for all of two seconds. If I’m being honest, for me personally, I think the moments after golden hour are some of my favorites. The sky lights up with delicate shades of pink, blue and purple. So magical. Let me start off by saying this was one of those amazing nights.
The energy of the couple and the location were high! Jamie and Alex were or should I say ARE WILDLY in love with one another, that was very apparent. Being able to capture their love was an out of this world experience and one that I will never ever forget!
Something about this area and wanting to hold your elopement at Cannon Beach is hands down one of the most accessible beaches on the Oregon Coast. For instance if you love the idea of an elopement but a few close family or friends would be nice to have, the beach is very easy to get to! Cannon Beach has more to offer than the stunning ocean so please follow along for a few of my favorite locations on the beach that would be PERFECT for your elopement.
Known as a pretty popular area for spotting Bald Eagles, Chapman Point on the northern end of Cannon Beach. This is a lesser known area of Cannon Beach and to your surprise although it doesn’t hold the lovely over 200ft Haystack Rock, it has smaller stack known as “Bird Rocks”. Just close your eyes and picture yourself telling the person of your dreams how much you love them along the coastline with beautiful cliffs and rocks surrounding you and way less crowds, if you know what I mean!
Hug Point is a favorite of mine. This is just 5 miles down from Cannon Beach, holds a special little waterfall off the cliff..I mean what more could you want! A cool thing to note about this amazing area is you can actually find caves and all the beautiful rocky ledges along the cliffs, saying vows in this location would be unforgettable!
Haystack Rock doesn’t really need a big introduction, more than likely you have heard of it. This sea stack has made itself known standing around 230 feet. It’s so fascinating to look at and if i’m being honest eloping with Haystack as your backdrop during sunset..holy smokes I just got chills and I promise as you’re saying your vows in the location you will as well!
This state park is what I would consider a unique spot if you’re looking for more than just the gorgeous coast line. Ecola State park has the beautiful lush Oregon Forest we all dream about witnessing at some point in our lives. Cliffs, the ocean, and so much more. The variety of backdrop this state park provides is top notch!
If you’re currently dreaming of saying your vows along the Oregon Coast I would love to help you out with planning and open your eyes to some truly mind blowing locations! Reach me here and I can’t to chat! In the meantime check out some of my favorite shots for J+As Elopement at Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach!
