May 30th could not of come fast enough. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t counting the days until this shoot! I was so excited. This particular session was in the works for sometime! Anna and I had spent a decent amount of time chatting about capturing her in her favorite place. A farm that sits outside of Charlottesville, Virginia and it hold some of the most magical, off the beaten path spots you can imagine! I mean the river, truly speaks for itself. Plus to top it off, Anna lives in one of the most beautiful cottages on the farm! She is surrounded by horses, humming birds, flowers, stunning sunsets and trails that lead you all over the farm! This place was a dream to photograph!
100% possible you might think I’m crazy for saying this. Here it goes nothing, this farm was beyond inspiring to me, the way Anna lives her life in a beautiful small cottage, how she connects with nature and just all the things around her, it’s absolutely incredible!
The afternoon started off by jumping in the car and heading to the opposite side of the farm. Then a little walk down to the river, which held a very surprising blue hole. The blue just popped out of the brown murky river water, it was STUNNING and totally unexpected. Anna was an absolute champ, the water was freezing but she completely powered through!
Once the frolicking in the water was over, it was time to dry off. We headed back to the cottage to reset and make our way to a different spot! By the time, we hit the cottage, golden hour was not far from setting in. Anna did a quick change and then we headed over to see the beautiful horses off in a field close by. Both boys, were skeptical by our presence but non the less, came to say hi anyways. I must admit I felt pretty bad that I didn’t have a carrot for them.
Next stop: the lake. I Truly had no idea there was a lake on the farm it was completely hidden. I was totally in love with it!
All in all, everything about this farm was a dream and we have the best time playing around on it!
Basically, words don’t even describe how I feel about portrait sessions, it feels like such a great way for self expression and honestly as the photographer allows me to get really creative in the moment. I’m obsessed with them it’s probably unhealthy..Or is it? I have one question. Are you interested in rolling around in a river while wearing a dress and run all around open fields? If that’s a yes, reach me here! Can’t wait to chat! 🙂
