Chris reached out to me back in February with idea of doing a surprise proposal for his sweet girlfriend Julia. He knew right away we wanted it to be in a National park. Immediately I was like “say less, I’m so there,”. Next, was nailing down where he wanted to get down on one knee. A few days had passed and Chris came to the final decision that Shenandoah just felt right. To make it even more special, Shenandoah is National Park that has been on their list for awhile. So it felt like a perfect choice!
After a few months of planning and a number of conversations, the date and exact trail was picked out! Chris was so excited to get down on one knee and ask his best friend the one question we all wait for in life. “Will you marry me?!”
{Side note..yes not everyone waits their whole lives for the person they love to ask that question but those of us who do. It’s truly amazing to hear!}
The location is a lesser known but equally as beautiful hike in Shenandoah National Park . A personal favorite of mine. There are two incredible overlooks along this 1.2-mile loop with a little over 400 feet in elevation. Honestly so easy! I assisted Chris with the right spot to come to, that was flat and close to an area for me to hide behind a tree. The discussed plan was for 7pm, however, they arrived early and thank goodness chis had service to tell me! The heads up was so helpful! C+J arrived on the lower summit and took a few moments to take in the view and then it was time. The moment was so lovely and Julia had the cutest reaction. She was over the moon hoping with so much joy!
It was a massive CONGRATULATIONS to these sweet humans! I’d say it was was pretty successful surprise proposal and one for the books for sure!
Truth be told, I’m longing for another opportunity to photograph a adventure surprise proposal again! So if you’r planning on popping the question anytime soon and want the memory frozen in time reach me here! Can’t wait to connect!
