Finally getting around to sharing one of the most meaningful elopements in a childhood home I have ever had the pleasure of capturing!
A small last minute elopement at your childhood home? I truly can not think of anything BETTER. The day started off very slow, or afternoon should I say. Taylor and Josh were hanging out around Taylors childhood home, drinking some wine and playing a little card game. They were so relaxed, it was so beautiful to witness.
A little backstory; Taylor is from Ariel, Washington not horrible far from Vancouver, Washington and probably now one of my favorite places. The drive out to her home from the Oregon coast was SO BEAUTIFUL, my mouth was hanging wide open with how stunningly beautiful everything was. To this day it was of my favorite drives.
Ariel, Washington is a smaller community that sits along Lake Merwin. When I tell you this home was nestled in the heart of Ariel I’m not joking. This home was located in one of the most beautiful areas I have ever been too. Truly obsessed. Her home holds a very special place in her heart and she couldn’t image having such an intimate moment anywhere else. Between Lake Merwin and the random incredible waterfall within the property. How could blame her!
The afternoon continued with both T & J writing their vows next to one another. Now this was a very causal elopement. I’m sure you might be reading this thinking, they were next to each other writing their vows. Why not do them privately? I get it, I too had the same thought but everyone is different and in the end I loved that they continued to drink and write down what they truly meant to one another. Sticking to who you are as a couple for your elopement is so IMPORTANT. Be you! Don’t do something just because everyone else is. Make your day unique!
We headed down to the waterfall, Im honestly not sure what the name of the falls is as it was on private property but how lucky are you to have such a stunning falls in your backyard. Taylor wanted to play around in the falls a bit before heading down to the dock at Lake Merwin. I was completely mesmerized but the lush forests that surround the falls. So magical!
Now the docks is where the big moment took place. It was quiet, quick and 1000% THEM. Such a treasured moment. The whole after was beautiful!
This elopement is one for the books, I really loved how simple and meaningful it was to both Taylor and Josh. All they wanted was a day to remember with a touch of adventure in a few of T’s favorite spots, which in the end is exactly what the got!
I’d kill to have the opportunity to capture another meaningful elopement such as this one. Reach out now! Can’t wait to chat!
