You will never not hear me talk about this incredible sweet gloomy early morning engagement session was. Truly with two of the kindest souls you could ever imagine. When Sophia and Ryan reached, about photographing their wedding, they said they were related to a sweet couple I second shot a wedding for back in the following September. Instantly I was already over the moon because when moments like that happen it feels like a massive compliment. Without question I was so excited. I wanted the chance to work with them. Due to the incredible experience I had working with other members of their family. A side from that I knew our call was going to hit it out of the park which IT DID.
Setting up a client Facetime call before ever booking is so important to me. I always want to be sure I vibe with my couples as they do with me. While also understanding a little bit more about them. The best feeling in the world is getting off of a client call and having it go better than you ever could of imagined. That is just how my call with these two went, I so excited about working with these two down the road.
One big thing to note, is both mentioned they wanted images that felt like them, candid, silly, freeing moments. Ryan also said when he thinks of an engagement session the song “Invisible String” by Taylor Swift comes to mind on how the session, itself should feel. Now at the time I was not familiar with the song but I made it my mission to know the song inside and out to deliver that feeling when they looked at their engagement photos…which I nailed.
When talking about R + S engagement session, I asked them a few questions;

- What do you do on a Saturday evening?
- Do you have a special place that means something to your relationship?
My questionnaire dives in deeper for all of my couples but the above questions in particular are to help me figure out how to pick the perfect setting for my couples engagement sessions.
The Market at Grelen
This takes us to The Market at Grelen for our little gloomy spring session. This location is nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Virginia in the Somerset area to be exact. It is a wedding venue, a cafe, nursery, garden shop and so much more. It’s a massive property and just what these two were looking for!
