This was an absolutely beautiful spring afternoon for a senior session. Avery is from more of the coastal side of North Carolina and wanted her senior session to be different and a bit more on the whimsical side. She mentioned to me most of her peers did their senior photos on the beach and it felt far more traditional posed than what she always hoped for.
After learning a bit more about who Avery is, I found out she has a dream of working in the Education field, being one to mold the minds of todays little ones, that aligned with me as a former teacher. Avery told me she has found so much peace in the Blue Ridge mountains and wanted to see if it was possible to have her shoot there. My response was “of course, anything and everything you want!”
So I was off to the North Carolina side of the Blue Ridge parkway! Now, this was a side of the parkway that I have not spent a ton of time on. With some more guidance from Avery I do a ton a research trying to find the perfect spot. Mountains, open field and possibly some wildflowers. Please, keep in mind this was in April and in a higher elevation area, wildflowers were not 100% in full bloom. I knew that was an important piece to what she was looking for, so i continued to search.
Finally we landed on Moses Cone Memorial Park on the Blue Ridge Parkway! Moses Cone Manor is and old getaway home for Mr. Cones wife back int he late 1940s. So much cool history behind this place, i highly reccomend diving more into it! The reason for picking this area to shoot in is one; it was a massive park so I knew right away we would have a ton open space. Two; it checked all the boxes Avery gave me, I even found a few very small patches of wildflowers.
The area was 10/10 for sure!
Seniors are pretty new to me but I would love the opportunity to work with more! Please reach out!
