I really wish I could put into words how much this session means to me. I feel like every photographer has that one shoot, their dream session, they one that shifted everything. You guessed it, this session was that for me. These two incredible humans made a dream come true, one I really thought I was years away from. A surprise double proposal was far more magical in the PNW with all the Twlight feels you can imagine.
When Trinity first reached out to me I thought I was dreaming reading her very detailed (we love all the details) inquiry form. She mentioned “adventure elopement”, and right when I saw that I was like say less, I’m so there. Then I see, “we booked a last minute flight to Portland for Christinas job, if you were free we’d love photos along the coast”. I had my husband pinch me in that movement. I really couldn’t believe what I was reading! The answer was HELL YES TO IT ALL!
From the moment I received the inquiry to the time I was standing on the Oregon coast looking at the Pacific Ocean was about a 3 week time frame. I would say things moved quickly. Now during our first call, I was under the impression that the girls just wanted couples photos along the coast. Easy, then they started reaching out to me individually. C mentioned she wanted to get down on one knee to throw T off. At this point in time you can only imagine how confused I was because they reached out for a adventure elopement.
Now to keep this on the shorter side, both were able to throw each other off and have the opportunity to propose. It was truly a beautiful moment. I loved being able to capture it. A double proposal that will go down until the end of time.
The prep leading up to this shoot was tricky, I was getting direction all of the place on what they wanted. Coast for sure, then Twilight inspired forest, rocky coastline..privacy. Okay, great love the direction but also how far up and down the road are you will you go?! Lucky the PNW is filled with all the Twilight vibes you can imagine and I had just the spot for them! Typical I keep locations to 2 during shoots like this because you can get too carried away doing too much. For this I made and exception! We were willing to do anything and everything we could to make it work!
Location was very important for both these girls neither one had been to the coast, With that being said, I took it upon myself to focus on the WOW factor. Spot one..Elk Flats.
This is hands down one of my favorite spots to photograph a couple! It is breathtaking in every single way imaginable, let us not forget about the rocky coastline or even the wind. I love the wind element in this location it adds an even more cinematic feel to the photos. This is the exact location where the double proposal went down!
Although, Short Sands Beach is a crazy popular area for surfers, I wish I could explain why but I’m not a surfer, we never even made it to the beach. As mentioned they wanted a Twilight feel forest, well the Elk Flats did not have that feel, which that was fine. Meaning it was time to switch it up! The walk way down to the beach is stunning lush forest. Exactly what they were looking for!
Lastly, we sped down the road to get to Cannon Beach before sunset. I’m happy to report we arrived at the PERFECT TIME. I could see the clouds turning into the delicate shades of pink and blue, almost like cotton candy all while we were booking it down the road, my anexiety was through the roof at this point. In the safest way possible. Trinity and Christina were behind me, both champs they kept up quite well might I add. That 15 minute drive from Short Sands Beach to Cannon felt like the longest drive of my life. I knew sunset at Cannon was important to these two and I was trying my best to deliver. We finally reached a parking lot and for some reason I was struggling to found public access onto the beach so all three of us were sprinting down the streets to catch the sunset.
It was all so worth it!
This was a bucket list item for me and I would be over the moon for another opportunity to capture another beautiful couples story along the Oregon Coast. Reach me here, I’d love to chat!
